Audio Plug-In Developer's Kit Version 1.1

Adobe Premiere audio filter plug-ins enable programs like DECK II, PEAK, Logic 3.0, Digital Performer, Turbomorph, Studio Vision, and Adobe Premiere to use third party DSP modules to apply filtering, spatialization, reverb, etc. to audio files. As this format emerges and becomes more standardized, many have been wondering how to get started writing Premiere style audio plug-ins. Premiere plug-ins are advantageous to developers because they do not require dedicated audio hardware and allow the developer to write DSP code in C.

BIAS has released a CodeWarrior C development kit for Premiere Plug-Ins. It is available for use without royalty or license fee from our web site and ftp server. Students, in particular, may use this SDK (Software Development Kit) to test out DSP algorithms. Please pass this information along if you know someone who might be interested.

We are eager to foster new Premiere Audio Plug-Ins for commercial and non-commercial use. If we can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Version 1.1 of the Plug-In Developer's Kit includes the following changes:

  • PowerPC plug-in project added
  • Callback implemented for demo project
  • Includes demo on how to do a reverse, which uses aformentioned callback
  • DoDSPProcessing has more arguments now, including position and total clip length
  • Playback is now done through interrupts, not through the modal dialog filter
